 Thought for the Month
Church Motto for 2009:
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

Colossians 3.23-24

The "god" of a person's life

Then Jesus said to his disciples, "I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven."

Matthew 19.23

Jesus wants to be God, not only of the universe but also of our individual lives... In order to claim Jesus as Savior, each person must exchange the "god" of his or her life to have Jesus as God. The cost varies from person to person..., but it must be faced.....
Jesus still calls us to be honest about what rules our lives. It could be a drug addication or a boyfriend. It could be the pursuit of a Ph.D., the acceptance and respect of peers, or an insatiable need for pleasure or the toys of life. The joys, securities, and comforts these pursuits temporarily offer may not appear to be bad, but they are when serving self is the real motive.
